The sheer speed of baseball can occasionally make it difficult to pinpoint the top players in the NHL but when those players heat up and start scoring points at will, or cool and have held off the scoresheet, they influence the game in a very concrete way and that subsequently impacts bettors and their gains.
In the past couple of weeks, there were over just a few examples of the and I’ve identified a list of players whose cold or hot streaks happen to be leading to good, bad or awful results for their respective teams.
Johnny HockeyJohnny Gaudreau had a tough start to his season and was forced to miss half of October with a broken finger but that is all behind him now. The 5’9″ left-winger now has nine points in his past seven games where his team, the Calgary Flames, are undefeated. During that series, the Flames are also 5-2 on the puckline and have moved within striking distance of the Ducks and Oilers at the Pacific Division.
The prior 104th overall draft pick was a catalyst for Calgary’s success since he entered the league in 2013 and also the path to victory will continue to operate through his and Sean Monahan’s growth.
Nashville Predators’ Top LineScoring a combined 32 points in their past seven games, the line of Victor Arvidsson, Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg is the most popular in hockey. Nashville has posted 12 OVERs in its last 13 games and it is the Preds’ very first line that bettors need to thank for this particular trend. Forsberg is known for his amazing second halves so as long as novels keep assigning Nashville levels of 5.5, you may keep betting the OVER.
The Preds have averaged 4.38 goals scored within the span of their last eight matches and through a series of 11 straight OVERs that recently stopped, their games were averaging a total of eight percent contest.
Captain Serious along with the KanerThese men are on complete fire right now with 42 combined points because the start of February and it has led to the Blackhawks winning 12 of their last 13 matches and all of their past seven. It’s arguable that two forward are more important to a team’s overall success than Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews and this season has just helped confirm that. Earlier in the year, when Captain Serious was at a dry spell, the’Hawks went 4-9 SU in matches in which Toews didn’t register a point throughout a 25-game stretch and 8-4 SU in matches he did. It is true he affects the game in several areas aside from the scoresheet but it’s clear the’Hawks are better if Toews creates an impact in the end.
It is also of note that over the course of their last 13 matches, the Blackhawks have submitted 10 OVERs in part thanks to the contributions made by Toews and Kane.
Vlad-dad Getting Sad-VladOn the opposite end of this spectrum, we have the Russian sniper Vladimir Tarasenko. He has found the back of the net exactly 1 time in the Blues’ last six matches also, coincidentally enough, the Notes are 1-5 SU in those tilts. Tara is St. Louis’ most skilled player by far and when he slacks off, so will the team’s production. This might only be a coincidence but since the Blues dealt Kevin Shattenkirk to the Capitals, Tarasenko has gotten just two shots on net in over 37 minutes of ice time. His present five-game pointless streak matches the longest of his career, therefore I expect him to get the boat turned around soon with the Blues in a tight playoff race. St. Louis has been streaky all season so if you are a believer in trends, it may be time to hop on the Notes.
